MAINE: Food at event cited in malaise - (Bangor Daily News)

More than 20 people who attended a two-day conference in Lincoln last week became ill shortly afterward, and public health officials say food served at the event is the likely source of the illness. The owner of the lakeside facility that hosted the event, however, said Monday there’s no indication that his staff did anything wrong.
Geoff Beckett, assistant state epidemiologist with the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, was cited as saying Monday that norovirus, has been identified in at least one of the victims, all of whom have now recovered, adding, “It appears to have been acquired at this event. And a meal is a likely way to transmit this organism.”
Bob Enochs, who has owned the Waterfront Special Events Center in Lincoln for about five years, was quoted as saying, “We’re just flabbergasted. We bought all this fresh food and served it the next day, and this happened.”
