CALIFORNIA: Trader Joes dumps sprout products after recall - (The Packer)

After a recall of alfalfa sprouts that potentially were contaminated with salmonella, Trader Joes co., Monrovia, Calif., discontinued selling the product.
Maurie Thomas, general manager of Caldwell & Sons, was cited as saying the late February recall involved product sold by J.H. Caldwell & Sons Inc., Maywood, Calif., in plastic tubs under the Natures Choice Alfalfa Sprouts brand, adding, “We havent put any sprouts back in there (Trader Joes) since the original recall, and they have not put any alfalfa sprouts back in their stores whatsoever.”
Thomas was further cited as saying agents from the Food and Drug Administration and the California Department of Health came to the company Feb. 28 and the company announced its recall Feb. 29, adding, “They told us they had purchased some of our product on the L.A.
