Health workers in Nelson are, according to this story, interviewing people who have been infected with a strain of salmonella that killed an elderly woman, as they try to track down the source.
Nelson-Marlborough Medical Officer of Health Jill Sherwood was cited as saying a control group of people who have not had the illness are also being spoken to, and the data will be analysed by Environmental Science & Research.
There have been 28 cases of the mbandaka strain of the virus reported in New Zealand since the start of the year.
