CALIFORNIA: Leafy greens program turns 1 - (Capital Press)

California’s Leafy Greens Handler Marketing Agreement has, according to this story, marked its first full year of operation with more than 500 food safety audits and the absence of any food borne illnesses associated with leafy greens in 2007.
Scott Horsfall, chief executive officer of the California Leafy Green Handler Marketing Agreement, deemed the first year of its operation a success, stating, “The industry has really made some huge strides in the last year, not the least of which is the Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement, but all across the board. There’s an awful lot of good stuff that’s gone on here.”
Nearly 120 handlers, representing more than 99 percent of the volume of California lettuce, spinach and other leafy greens, joined the organization in 2007.
