COLORADO: Progress being made in Alamosa - (The Denver Post)

State and local officials are, according to this story, expected to announce progress this morning in the cleanup of salmonella-tainted water in Alamosa.
The entire city should be able to take a shower, for one thing.
But there is no word yet on when residents in this town of 9,000 will be able to drink water from their taps.
Cheyenne Blake, the Gilpin Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman who is helping in Alamosa, was quoted as asying, “The testing will tell us that.”
Officials still aren’t sure how the bacteria got into the city’s water. No announcement on that is expected at today’s news conference. But Jacki Kelley, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s spokeswoman who also was working in Alamosa on Sunday, said health officials would be able to give an update on progress.
The city said Sunday that 316 people had become ill, with 85 cases of salmonella confirmed. Twelve of those people required hospitalization.
