AUSTRALIA: Coles recalls sausages following metal contamination - (Scopical News/Data)
February 21, 2008 – 5:36 pmColes Supermarkets have begun recalling three lines of sausages after it was revealed some may contain metal wire fragments.
The supermarket said that it would begin the voluntary recall of the “You’ll Love Coles” brand sausages, with the meat products sold throughout the supermarket chain’s Coles, Bi-Lo and Pick and Pay outlets.
It is understood that the sausages may contain small metal wire fragments that entered into the meat products during their production.
Coles said that three separate types of sausages were affected in the recall.
- “You’ll Love Coles” tomato, chilli and cheese flavoured beef sausages in 560g packs with a best-before date of February 16
- Oregano and thyme flavoured beef sausages in 560g packs with a best-before date of February 22
- All package sizes of thin barbecue sausages with a best-before date of February 21.
