FLORIDA woman finds blade in lollipop - (Los Angeles Times)

LAKELAND, Fla. — Authorities issued a safety alert Thursday after a Valentine’s Day lollipop was found with a blade-like piece of metal in it, and the store chain that sold it pulled similar items from its shelves nationwide.
Lisa Potter of Mulberry was cited as telling authorities she noticed Wednesday night that metal was protruding from a lollipop in a bag of Pokemon Valentine Cards and Pops. The bag was purchased at a Dollar General store last week, she said.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office issued a safety advisory and the Dollar Store chain removed the product, sold in bags of 10, from its more than 8,000 stores nationwide.
The sheriff’s office said it is investigating, as is the product’s manufacturer, Sherwood Brands of Maryland. The company did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
