Roxbury Court Apartments has one the cleanest, safest indoor pools or spas in the area, according to a reviw of county Health Department records by The Flint Journal.
Using the Freedom of Information Act, The Journal reviewed hundreds of annual reports by Genesee County inspectors, who evaluate pools and spas in schools, hotels and health clubs, increasingly popular places in the cold Michigan winter.
The inspectors look for everything from E. coli bacteria in the water to mold in the shower room to busted pumps and chemical-dispensing equipment.
The Journal’s review of indoor pools and spas showed:
• At least seven facilities have been temporarily shut down by Health Department orders since 2005. Owners are able to reopen as soon as a problem has been fixed and sometimes without a reinspection.
