TEXAS: Magazine ranks Plano among safest cities for eating out - (NBC News)

February 7, 2008 – 6:42 pm

PLANO, Texas — The editors at Men’s Health go looking for the cleanest restaurants in the country and find them in North Texas, ranking Plano the eighth-safest city in which to eat out.
The story says that Jorg Fercher’s recipe for success at Jorg’s Cafe Vienna in Plano begins with safety instead of seasoning.
Fercher was cited as saying he places a premium on employee hygiene and that his restaurant and even his bathrooms are spotless. It has earned him Plano’s food safety award four years running.
Tomeji Miller said education and inspections conducted by the Plano Health Department has placed the city eighth out of 101 cities for food safety, according to Men’s Health magazine, which checked for common food-borne illnesses like E. coli, salmonella and shigella.
