PENNSYLVANIA: 100 sickened as Villanova University hit by illness outbreak - (Centre Daily Times)

January 27, 2008 – 4:12 pm

VILLANOVA, Pa. — Officials at Villanova University were cited as saying about 100 students have contracted a gastrointestinal illness likely related to norovirus.
Students began getting sick on Wednesday with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Fourteen were referred to emergency rooms for treatment of dehydration and then released.
Officials say the students live both on campus and off and did not have a common food source. They are getting better in 24 to 48 hours.
School officials said Saturday the number of new cases with virus-related symptoms has decreased significantly.
