A Loop salad shop was ordered closed today after Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) inspectors discovered a critical violation of the City Health Code.
Salad Spinners, 200 E. Randolph (lower level of the Aon Center), was shut down after CDPH inspectors found continued non-compliance with orders to address what started out as minor health violations.
“It is unfortunate that a restaurant manager would choose to ignore public health regulations designed to protect his own customers from food borne illness,” stated CDPH Commissioner Terry Mason, M.D. “We take food safety seriously, and we expect the owners and managers of all licensed food establishments to do the same.”
Management was cited for cutting boards with unacceptable amounts of wear and tear, including deep cracks that could allow bacteria to colonize (cutting boards are required to be relatively smooth and easy to clean/sanitize); cracked and missing floor tiles in the kitchen, dirty floors in need […]
