CANADIAN E. coli O157:H7 testing policy changes start today - (NAMP News Fax)

NAMP alerted members in Canada on Saturday that, starting today, CFIA officials will take the results of any rapid E. coli tests as definitive. A presumptive positive means the product lot, if acceptable lotting procedures are in place, must be sent for cooking or taken out of domestic or international commerce. The only exception to this approach is if prior procedures are in place to take the sample to confirmation and the product is part of a previously approved (by CFIA) test and hold program. Members are encouraged to talk to the inspector-in-charge about the policy change.
