A group of pensioners taken violently ill on a trip away have blamed their hotel for “the holiday from hell”.
A group of 11 Taff’s Well OAPs paid £199 each to join 40 others on an Edwards Coaches tour to Scarborough’s Grand Hotel, which is undergoing renovation, on October 28 for a five-night stay.
But the trip was marred when members of the group – some as old as 90 – were struck down with sickness and diarrhoea.
Mavis Frost, aged 70, was badly affected and had to be seen by paramedics.
“We were quarantined by the hotel and had to stay in the room for two days,” she said.
Cynthia Dyke, aged 66, of the Ty Rhiw Estate, was quoted as saying, “Wherever you went in the hotel there was a terrible smell of sewage. The toilet wasn’t working in my room and there were no phones. One lady pulled her sheets back and […]
