OREGON: Doctors expect to see more patients after Thanksgiving - (MSNBC.com)

Eugene — Physicians say it happens every year. Put people in close contact with each other, throw in a lot of homecooked food and it’s a situation where someone could easily become sick. 24 to 48 hours after people sit down to their Thanksgiving meals, local doctors expect to see some of them in their waiting rooms.
The big complaints: vomiting and diarrhrea. “Now some of that is from viruses spread through contact at Thanksgiving,” said Sandra Miller, a local pediatrician. “So during your celebration, don’t forget to be washing your hands while you’re meeting and greeting all those people.”
To help protect yourself from getting sick, be sure to wash your hands before and during any food preparation. Dr. Miller says a lot of illness is caused by cross contamination.
