“I just ate poached salmon cooked underneath the catalytic converter of a 2006 Toyota Tacoma.
And, yeah, I went back for seconds.”
The story says, call it Car-B-Que, Engine Eats, Manifold Meals: people have been using their cars as mobile kitchens for years.
The author says she decided to combine her love of food and transportation for a Thanksgiving twist. The goal: to cook, or at least warm, a Thanksgiving side dish on the way to Grandma’s house.
But why, you ask? Why the heck not? If you’re spending $3.40 for a gallon of gas, why not put some of that wasted heat to good use? It saves time, it saves energy, it will impress family and friends.
Chef Mike Rockey accepted the Queen’s challenge.
