ONTARIO: Schmidt renews raw-milk fight - (Owen Sound Sun Stimes)
November 19, 2007 – 7:16 pmGrey County raw milk farmer Michael Schmidt was cited as saying he hopes to convince members of Ontarios recently-elected Legislature to put regulations for raw milk on the provincial agenda (yawn - dp) and plans a demonstration at Queens Park, Wednesday, the first sanniversary of a raid at his farm by provincial investigators seeking evidence of an illegal raw milk operation.
He also expects to distribute information packages for legislators about
raw milk regulatory systems in Europe and parts of the United States where
unpasteurized milk remains legal.
Schmidt has retained leading defense
lawyer Clayton Ruby to defend him against a variety of Milk Act charges.
They include operating a raw milk plant without a licence, failing to obey
a written order made by a public health official, selling unpasteurized
milk and the distribution of unpasteurized milk and cheese products. An
