CALIFORNIA: Norovirus likely culprit in mass sickening - (KSBW 8)

Test results showed were cited as showing that norovirus, a highly contagious stomach virus, was the likely culprit for sickening 80 people and closing a restaurant last week.
The health department said as many as 1,000 people were exposed to the gastrointestinal virus at a buffet-style restaurant.
Susan Lenz of Stockton, who was here last weekend when people started getting sick, was quoted as saying, “It’s just very, very disgusting. I know restaurants try to be really careful about that so it’s very sad.”
Officials said so many people were sickened because of the huge draw Sanderling’s restaurant has.
They said norovirus is transmitted most commonly when people fail to wash their hands properly after using the restroom — but they don’t know whether it was a customer or employee that was at fault.
