FLORIDA: Manatee news briefs: City officials OK ‘doggy dining’ law - (Herald Tribune)
November 17, 2007 – 7:45 pmBradenton — City officials joined their counterparts in the city of Sarasota, Sarasota County and Manatee County on Tuesday by passing a “doggy dining” ordinance that allows restaurant patrons to eat with their pets.
The ordinance will be in effect until July 1, 2009, unless the City Council readopts the measure.
The rules are largely the same in Bradenton and Sarasota: Restaurateurs have to pay for a permit; the dogs must be leashed and “under reasonable control”; and employees cannot pet a dog while carrying food or tableware.
