FLORIDA: Food company executive Timothy Delong sentenced to prison for selling contaminated foods - (Associated Content)
November 15, 2007 – 7:20 pmA Florida resident, Timothy Delong, has been sentenced to serve 15 months in federal prison, where there is no parole, after he pleaded guilty to charges of participating in a plan do commit fraud by the sale of adulterated contaminated foods as well as to ship misbranded foods in interstate commerce.
He has also been ordered to pay a fine of $5,000 as well as to pay $200,000 in restitution to the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. The money will be used to fund programs that promote food safety. He will also serve 3 years of supervised release.
In the first count he was charged with scheming to defraud the customers of Atlantis Foods, Inc, a company that he was president of, by selling adulterated contaminated prepared foods.
