OHIO: Fremont student has E. coli - (Port Clinton News Herald)
November 8, 2007 – 7:25 pmFREMONT A female Ross High School student was, according to this story, diagnosed with a case of E. coli O157:H7 Wednesday, but health officials are unsure how the student picked up the bacteria.
The health department sent home a letter Wednesday with Ross High School students explaining the type of E. coli bacteria, its symptoms and how people can become infected along with how they can prevent spreading the bacteria.
Fremont School Superintendent Traci McCaudy was cited as saying the school was informed about the student Wednesday from the health department, adding, “The cleaning staff disinfected all of the classrooms, and that they have been following the strict guidelines of the health department.
The story goes on to say that to prevent E. coli, make sure that when eating ground beef or hamburger it is cooked until the juices run clear, and the center is not pink, Smith said. People should […]
