CALIFORNIA: San Bernardino boy’s E. coli case sparks investigation - (The Press-Enterprise)

October 30, 2007 – 10:56 pm

San Bernardino County health officials were cited as saying Tuesday they are investigating how a 1 1/2 -year-old San Bernardino boy became ill with the deadly E. coli bacteria.
Dr. Margaret Beed, the county’s health officer, was cited as saying investigators spoke to Monique Bivins, whose son, Ravon, spent a week in two hospitals after he became ill this month, and that department officers are looking for other children who have symptoms of the bacteria, adding, “We’re not aware of any other child having symptoms at this time.”
Beed said she would contact Ravon’s day care, KinderCare Learning Center in Colton, to make sure workers there told parents to look for E. coli symptoms.
