GEORGIA: Public hearing on coloring raw milk is Friday - (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

October 30, 2007 – 10:59 pm

A proposal to require farmers to dye raw milk before it can be sold to the public has raised so much interest that the state agriculture department has switched the location of a public hearing to accommodate the expected crowd.
The hearing from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday was originally set for the department’s headquarters downtown, but will now take place at the Georgia State Farmers Market in Forest Park, at the Exhibit Hall.
The department has received more than 160 comments on the rule change, which follows a new North Carolina regulation to dye raw milk charcoal grey to discourage human consumption.
