AUSTRALIA: Push for food hygiene rank comes from Choice - (The Herald Sun)
November 1, 2007 – 11:02 pmChoice spokesman Christopher Zinn was cited as saying there was no easy way for Australian consumers to find out if a restaurant was up to scratch in the food safety stakes and that details of restaurant inspections could be requested from local councils under Freedom of Information laws but this could be a slow and difficult process, adding, “In some other comparable countries food safety inspection details are published online, and in some cities restaurants have to display their hygiene score in the window. Choice wants to see a similar system here.”
He said this would act as an incentive for restaurants to improve standards.
