INDIANA: School fest marks return to normalcy - (Courier-Journal)

October 26, 2007 – 5:25 pm

To some of the parents at Galena Elementary School, yesterday’s annual family day was, according to this story, a way to show that life at the Southern Indiana school is settling down after an outbreak of E. coli bacterial infections.
Wendy Moody, PTO vice president, pausing in the school cafeteria where parents and kids were eating chili served by students, was quoted as saying, “It’s a way for us to get back to some normalcy, to celebrate our kids and our families and our school.”
During the E. coli outbreak, several students were cited as saying, it seemed like they were washing their hands once every half hour. Now, a few of them joked, things have eased up a little and it’s just once every hour.
