October 24, 2007 – 5:36 pm

The number of reported cases of salmonella has risen to 51 over the past week and nine have been confirmed as salmonella.
Vernon Goins, public information officer for the state Division of Public Health’s East Metro Health District, was cited as saying three other cases are pending on test results.
The story says that many of the individuals reporting salmonella symptoms were in attendance at Sherman’s Last Burning the weekend of Oct. 12-14. The event, hosted by the Covington Lions Club, featured 15 food vendors including the Lions Club who sold barbecue plates prepared by BareKnuckles BBQ.
