UK: Cadbury’s prestige rank soured by Salmonella outbreak - (Birmingham Post)

October 22, 2007 – 6:35 pm

Cadbury Dairy Milk has slipped down the ranking of the United Kingdom’s most valuable grocery brands.
According to a report by valuation experts Intangible Business, Cadbury has seen its prize product drop from second to third place with a brand worth of over $895 million, down over $168 million from on last year.
According to the annual league table, which ranks 100 of the United Kingdom’s most valuable grocery brands, Cadbury’s recent salmonella scare is the main reason behind its change of fortune.
In July, Cadbury was fined $2 million following the revelation it failed to inform authorities of dozens of tests that showed its processed materials and ready-to-eat products contained the salmonella organism.
