NEW YORK: Groton family files lawsuit for tainted Topps hamburger - (Ithaca Journal)
October 19, 2007 – 8:57 pmGROTON Kristen Goodwin and one of her 8-year-old twin sons fell ill after eating tainted Topps hamburgers at a family picnic in Groton in September, and Wednesday a lawsuit for punitive damages was filed on their behalf in Tompkins County Supreme Court.
The lawsuit was filed against Topps Meat Company, the New Jersey hamburger supplier that recalled nearly a year’s supply of frozen ground-beef patties after its products were identified as the source of an E. coli outbreak in September. The Seattle-based Marler Clark law firm and Rochester-based Underberg & Kessler are representing the Goodwins.
Keith Goodwin, Kristen’s husband and the boys’ father and a Groton elementary school teacher, was quoted as saying, “You never want to see your kids hurt. It’s been traumatic and a nightmare experience for all of us.”
