PHILIPPINES: Contaminated water downs 380 in Cavite - (Inquirer)
October 12, 2007 – 7:16 pmTRECE MARTIRES CITY, Philippines — The number of residents who were taken ill after drinking contaminated water in Gen. Trias, Cavite has continued to increase during the past few days, a local health official here said Friday.
Dr. Ma. Vilma Diez, Cavite health director, said they have recorded 224 new cases of diarrhea in the village of Panongyanan during the past 24 hours.
She said the patients included a number of infants and the elderly.
This brought to 380 the number of residents affected by diarrhea and other similar gastrointestinal problems since September 29.
