Food safety dangers linked to consumer behaviors - (Brownfield Network)

A number of people in a handful of states appear to have fallen ill this week after eating Banquet turkey and chicken-flavored pot pies manufactured by Omaha-based ConAgra Foods. ConAgra officials are advising consumers to steer clear of the pot pies while USDA investigates the source of the food-borne pathogen, salmonella, which caused the illnesses.
ConAgra spokesperson Stephanie Childs told Brownfield the safety of consumers is the company’s single greatest concern, and she said the pot pies in question were most likely undercooked, adding, “Banquet pot pies should literally be steaming hot when they are thoroughly cooked to help ensure that all of the most common food-borne pathogens have been eliminated.”
