FLORIDA: Cocoa Beach closer to dog-dining ordinance - (Florida Today)

The Cocoa Beach City Commission was cited as agreeing Thursday night to draft an ordinance that would let restaurants apply for a permit to allow dogs at outdoor seating areas, as long as the pets were on a leash with their owners.
The move could make Cocoa Beach the first beachside community in Brevard County to allow restaurant patrons to bring their dogs to dinner.
Tonya Morgan, general manager at The Surf, which brought the request for the ordinance before the commission, was quoted as saying, “We thought that dogs were allowed on the patio. We never realized that we were breaking the law.”
Morgan was further cited as saying they wanted to legally do what they had already been doing at the request of customers, who come to the restaurant patio area with their dogs, adding, “We’re asking you to allow doggie dining. We want them to legally come and enjoy lunch […]
