ONTARIO: RibFest vendor fined; Inspectors want eatery excluded next year, health board hears - (Guelph Mercury)

October 4, 2007 – 7:31 pm

A food vendor at Guelph’s annual RibFest was fined by public health inspectors at the event in late August.
Hawgs Gone Wild was fined $460 for keeping cooked chicken wings at temperatures that could cause illness. The vendor was fined Aug. 26 after health inspectors warned him on the two preceding days.
The public health board heard at yesterday’s meeting in Fergus that public health inspectors have also recommended RibFest organizers exclude the vendor in future years from the celebration in Riverside Park.
The story also notes that Caribou Creek Alehouse ‘N Cookshack, 304 Stone Rd. W., was fined $460 for refrigerating some food at an unsuitable temperature.
The fine was issued Aug. 27 for the violation, which had been found by public health inspectors a few days earlier. The establishment has a history of “temperature abuse issues,” according to a public health report.
