MINNESOTA: Former Lyle student pleads guilty in brownies case - (Post Bulletin)
September 28, 2007 – 6:12 pmAustin — An 18-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday to four criminal charges, including a felony, for lacing brownies with laxatives and giving them to people at Lyle School when he was a student there.
Collin Wayne Orth pleaded guilty Monday in Mower District Court in Austin to felony counts of adulteration and harassment (pattern of harassing conduct), records show. He also pleaded guilty to single counts of fleeing police in a motor vehicle and first-degree criminal damage to property, which were amended from felonies to gross misdemeanors.
For the harassment charge, Orth didn’t admit guilt but acknowledged a jury would likely convict him, said Assistant County Attorney Jeremy Clinefelter said. All other charges in the four files will be dismissed under the plea agreement.
Orth, who is free on bail, will be sentenced Dec. 27.
