UK: E. coli patient recovers in Fife - (BBC News)

September 24, 2007 – 9:00 pm

Health officials were cited as confirming that a 25-year-old man Fife man is suffering from the potentially fatal E.c oli O157 infection.
Dr Graham MacKenzie, consultant in public health medicine with Fife NHS, was quoted as saying, “The gentleman is thought to have acquired the infection while on holiday abroad.
Our initial investigations have not so far found anyone else to be infected. … Careful hand washing, especially before eating, after using the toilet and before and after handling food, is one of the most effective things people can do to reduce the spread of infection.”
