How many times did your mother tell you to do it? How many thousands of times?
“Wash your hands!”
Now, in this time of pandemic peril, everyone from U.S. President Barack Obama, to the World Health Organization, to leading infection control experts are repeating that exasperated motherly plea.
“It has been proven time and time again that handwashing is the easiest way to stop (infection) transmission,” said Bhagirath Singh, head of infectious disease with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. “And it is so simple. It is not a complicated issue. Soap and water will do the trick.”
