ENGLAND: E.coli outbreak linked to hotel - (Midlothian Advertiser)
September 15, 2007 – 6:59 pmThree people are being treated in hospital after an E. coli O157 outbreak linked to a hotel, and another person is being treated at home, after all four people ate at Aberdeen’s four star Atholl Hotel.
NHS Grampian was cited as saying that cold meat cooked on the premises was a suspected source of the bug, adding in a statement that, “The cases all ate at the Atholl Hotel in Aberdeen on Tuesday September 4. While we are unable to be sure of the exact cause at this time, one possibility could be the consumption of cold cooked meats. The meats were cooked by the hotel on the premises.
The hotel premises have been inspected and samples of food have been taken in an effort to identify the possible source of the infection. No deficiencies in practice have been identified. The hotel management are co-operating fully with the investigation.”
