NEW YORK: Fourth E. coli victim not linked to Yonkers supermarket’s meat recall - (The Journal News)
September 14, 2007 – 6:37 pmYonkers — The state health department was cited as announcing this afternoon that a fourth case of food poisoning in Westchester County is not linked to a supermarket meat recall.
Yesterday, state health inspectors were investigating whether a fourth case of E.coli infection was due to ground meat from the Stew Leonard’s supermarket.
On Wednesday, the supermarket announced a recall of its 96% Lean Ground Round meat because of possible contamination by the E. coli bacteria.
The suspect beef was ground by the store on July 21 and 65 packages were produced that day.
One of those packages sickened or infected three members of one family with E. coli.
