CONNECTICUT: Cow fecal matter leads to Simsbury farm’s raw milk problem - (NBC 30)
July 31, 2008 – 11:34 pmSIMSBURY, Conn. — Fecal matter from one cow at a Simsbury dairy farm caused five people to get sick with E. coli, according to the state Department of Agriculture.
Department representatives said fecal matter from one cow contained E. coli bacteria and somehow made its way into the raw milk sold by the dairy.
Since five people reported becoming sick, the departments of agriculture and health had been extensively testing Town Farm Dairy.
The link among the five people who became ill was that each had consumed raw milk from the dairy farm, officials have said. Raw milk is filtered and bottled without being pasteurized.
