The search continues for the source of the water contamination that caused 73 people to fall ill after eating Clevedon oysters.
Auckland Regional Public Health Service medical officer of health Greg Simmons says they came down with norovirus which causes vomiting and diarrhoea, adding, “Two of them ended up in hospital overnight but everyone is better now and there are no more serious consequences.
Clevedon Coast Oysters managing director Callum McCallum says the contaminated shellfish came from a farm near the mouth of Clevedon’s Wairoa River.
