OTTAWA: Food agency takes very seriously policies on security of information - (Ottawa Citizen)
July 28, 2008 – 11:57 pmOmer Boudreau of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency writes regarding, Union launches campaign for fired inspection agency worker, July 24, to say that the document in question was not placed on a website as reported and was not easy to access on an internal server.
As a federal government regulator, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency takes its responsibility to maintain public trust and to respect the federal government’s policies on the security of its information assets very seriously.
The document had been clearly labelled “confidential” and procedures were immediately implemented to meet document control procedures to preclude future occurrences.
Public servants sign a formal declaration that clearly states that if individuals fail to protect the security of information assets this may constitute a violation of several laws and policies and can result in disciplinary action.
