US: Online portal for distributing recall information to debut this summer - (Meatingplace.com)

June 12, 2008 – 8:42 pm

The Food Marketing Institute and GS1 US, which is part of global standards organization GS1, expect to launch by late summer an online portal for processors to distribute standard recall information to retailers, Supermarket News reported.
The Product Recall Collaboration Zone, which aims to standardize the variety of recall standards and methods currently used, was demonstrated at a GS1 US conference in Dallas earlier this week, according to SN.
The portal includes standard forms a processor could fill out when a recall occurred. Only authorized processors and retailers would have access to the system.
