UK: Sick hotel syndrome is back - (Times Online)

June 8, 2008 – 6:11 pm

Guests at the Spanish hotel at the centre of a £2.5m compensation payout by Thomson and Thomas Cook are, according to this story, threatening further action against the operators after fresh outbreaks of norovirus.
The story says that in February, nearly 800 former guests of the Beach Club Hotel, in Torremolinos, successfully sued the operators following outbreaks of the norovirus bug – which causes vomiting and diarrhoea – between 2000 and 2002.
It remains to be seen, though, whether the hotel has cleaned up its act. Londoners Charles and Ann Fish, who booked a stay at the Beach Club with Thomson in April this year, both say they went down with abdominal cramps, vomiting and severe diarrhoea a few days after checking in. Mr Fish was eventually hospitalised as a result of the infection.
