MINNESOTA: Officials investigating E. coli at Slayton day care - (Marshall Independent)
June 6, 2008 – 8:16 pmCases of E. coli infection in children at a Slayton child care center are currently under investigation by the Minnesota Department of Health. However, center administrators say the outbreak wasnt caused by conditions there.
Michelle Granum, assistant director of Wonder World Preschool in Slayton, was quoted as saying, “This is a case where someone brought it in from outside. Anybody could have caught this.”
Granum was further cited as saying Friday that Wonder World staff are complying with the investigation and have taken steps to prevent more kids from getting sick, adding, We have cleaned everything, weve bleached, weve cleaned the carpets. The state told us weve done everything we could do.
A MDH news release was cited as saying that since May 15, three children who attend Wonder World have been confirmed positive for a harmful strain of E. coli bacteria. One child has been hospitalized with symptoms consistent with hemolytic uremic […]
