IRELAND: Two food businesses closed in May — Food businesses urged to take additional measures during summer months - (Food Safety Authority of Ireland)
June 5, 2008 – 8:09 pmThe Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) today stated that two Closure Orders were served on food businesses during the month of May for breaches of food safety legislation pursuant to the FSAI Act, 1998. A Closure Order was served by environmental health officers (EHOs) in the HSE Southern region on a bakery, Murrays Fresh Bread Ltd, Churchview, Clonleigh, Palace, Enniscorthy, Wexford. The second Closure Order was served by EHOs in the HSE Dublin Mid Leinster region on Seeta Restaurant, Dublin Road, Naas, Kildare.
Commenting on these latest Closure Orders, Dr John OBrien, Chief Executive, FSAI, urged food business operators to be extra vigilant in complying with their legal requirements. He stated that there is an increased risk in cases of food poisoning during the summer season, and reminded food businesses that refrigerating food to the correct temperatures is particularly vital during these warmer months.
